Joe Schwartz has more than 27 years of experience as an art director, graphic designer and illustrator, including ten years at the NBA as well as other local agencies in the New York and New Jersey areas.
In his role as an educator, Joe has worked tirelessly as an advocate for teaching design to K-12 students for the last 12 years in the Spotswood School District in New Jersey. He is also an adjunct professor at Kean University’s Robert Busch School of Design in Union, New Jersey and in this role has taught classes including the History of Visual Communication, Studio Skills, Graphic Design Survey, and Critical Perspectives in Design.
Joe is a frequent author and lecturer on the subject of design education and has presented material to audiences on behalf of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), the Pennsylvania Art Educators Association, Art Educators of New Jersey and the New Jersey Education Association. His writings have been published in journals for the Art Educators of NJ, School Arts magazine, and the results of his research have been used in university studies on the effects of design education on K-12 students.
Joe earned his BFA in Media Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and earned his MFA in Design from Marywood University. He is a member of the AIGA, AENJ and the NAEA. He currently resides in Spotswood, New Jersey with his wife and two sons. For more information on Joe, click HERE
